The new Nintendo Switch is here: Lite version will be out in September at $200

Nintendo announced today what is basically the Playstation Vita version of the Nintendo Switch: the Switch Lite. It’ll retail in the US for  US$200 and it’ll be a handheld-only version of Nintendo’s hugely popular hybrid console.

What’s the difference, you ask? Here’s a helpful chart:

As you can see, you’re missing out on docking, tabletop mode and detachable joy-cons. But you get a smaller (though not much smaller) footprint and compatibility with the vast majority of games in the Switch’s library.

Will you be getting one?

I think I’ll first save up and try and replace the joy-cons that recently died on me, through widely reported issues (analog stick drifting and shoulder button death).
