Turrican Flashback runs onto consoles on 29th January

The classic 90s run and gun shooter, Turrican, makes its return to consoles on 29th January 2021 courtesy of ININ Games. Collecting four games in the series, Turrican Flashback hits the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch as both a digital and physical release.

Originally developed for the Commodore 64 in 1990 by Factor 5, the Turrican series has become legendary amongst gamers. The Metroidvania style shooter gained fame for it’s classic Amiga version, which then spawned two sequels, as well as being ported to several other platforms including the SNES and Megadrive.

Despite not seeing a new release for over two decades fans have eagerly awaited a new chapter in the series. Now the rights to the franchise have returned to Factor 5, this collection has been made possible, bringing four versions of the game to home users once more, enhanced with brand new controls and features.

Included are the Amiga versions of Turrican 1 and 2, as well as Super Turrican and Mega Turrican from the SNES and Megadrive respectively. Each offers a variety of screen modes, optional CRT filters, new controls making gameplay more fluid, system perfect emulation, rewind mode, save states and more.

We’ll be bringing you a full review soon but we’ve already had the chance to play it and early impressions certainly say that this does the series proud.
